Do the "Twist"

Torture seems more and more to be a utilitarian argument to me. Take this enemy combatant and derive information that will save many more live, even if we sacrifice our morals on one human. Fist I think we must get over the fact if torture is cruel. It can be cruel but its means could very well be outweighed by its end results. I believe that there are degrees of torture and interrogations, and that it is not a black and white issue. Interrogation and torture are two very different subjects, and when talking about these issues we must keep them separate. I may be immoral to waterboard someone, but that does not void all other form of interrogating. The US Military allows detainees to stand for four hours. Donald Rumsfeld wrote why not eight.

A couple of times, Bowden raises the effectiveness issue of torture. After going constantly at someone for a desired answer, Bowden claims that the information will not be accurate, however pieces will be applicable to a larger puzzle. Here is a good place to see if the means justify the end result. If torture has significant faults to its effectiveness, is it then morally right to use it in interrogations?

Do we blame ourselves for voting this illegal and morally defunct group in for another term to not abide by international accords?
